When one of the highest-grossing bars for alcohol in Dallas closed back in April of this year, we weren’t sure if it was getting an updo or a blowout. Turns out it’s neither; Bottled Blonde got a full-blown makeover.

This week, Evening Entertainment Group (behind Bottled Blonde) announced that Palomino Ranch, a new restaurant and bar, will debut in the old Bottled Blonde space on Wednesday, Oct. 8, right on time for the Red River Rivalry game on Saturday, Oct. 11.

“After seven great years in Dallas, it was simply time for something new,” said EEG co-owner Les Corieri in a release. “Palomino Ranch is built for the way people want to experience nightlife now— a high-energy country vibe that’s also approachable and fun.”

We were all smiles until we read that it’s a “Nashville-style honky tonk with a nightlife twist.” The new concept is built on the company’s wildly popular Jelly Roll’s Goodnight Nashville, which is located on Broadway in the Music City.

Is it cynical to ask which Texan wanted a Tennessee-inspired honky tonk?

They’re bringing in DJs who will spin country remixes, ’80s and ’90s throwbacks and old-school hip-hop, while serving a whole new line-up of interactive drinks and shots like picklebacks (a whiskey shot plus a hollowed-out pickle juice chaser) and ice cube shot glasses that you toss at a bell after you finish.

The venue got an entire refresh with a new retro-country design and a brand-new rooftop patio with a green-and-white coastal garden-inspired look outfitted with oversized couches, lounge seating and optional bottle service.

LED screens around the venue will feature major sports and pay-per-view events before transitioning into programming that transitions the venue from day to late night.

A new menu will feature appetizers, smoked sandwiches, salads and shareable favorites that can be paired with the venue’s full bar serving beer, wine and “approachable” bottle service. Can bottle service be approachable? Perhaps we’ll find out.

Palomino Ranch will open at 505 N. Good Latimer Expressway (just north of Deep Ellum), on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
