Patio season is upon us … blah blah blah. That line’s been the intro for every article/blog post/Instagram caption for the last month and a half, but in Dallas, patio season is fleeting; great cocktails are not.

I stopped into Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse in the West End for a quick post-9 to 5 cool down on their patio and ordered their most popular drink, the Front Porch Fizz, which can actually be enjoyed on their front porch … kind of. It’s a simple, light and delicious patio-perfect cocktail by Justin Berry, but watch out — it’s so easy to drink that it may get you in trouble.

Y.O. Ranch recently turned 20 — no small feat in a dining market like Dallas. Stop in and wish them a happy birthday and have a drink to celebrate, or tackle this one at home.

FRONT PORCH FIZZ
1.5 oz. Fords gin
0.5 oz. St. Germain
Fresh lemon juice
Muddled strawberry
Sparkling wine (Y.O uses Gruet)

Shake all ingredients except the sparkling wine together. Pour in a Collins glass and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a strawberry slice and lemon twist or slice.
