It’s easy to miss the yellow food truck tucked behind a Shell station at the intersection of Fort Worth Drive and Country Club Road in Denton, even if you pass by frequently. It was almost a month before I noticed it and decided to stop and give it a try — and I’m glad I did.

The Flower Shop Coffee Co. truck was decorated for the holidays throughout December with a small Christmas tree outside and a festive holiday menu taped to the window. On the windowsill sits a basket of painted stones and a cup of stickers, created by the owner’s mother.

Miranda Blankenfeld is not only the owner but also the barista and cashier of this little yellow cafe on wheels. She opened it in the summer of 2025, and according to her, the tucked-away spot has been doing well.

The menu boasts of lattes with flavors like pecan pie, s’mores, pretzel-mint and pumpkin French toast, among many others. Other, non-espresso drinks include matcha, tea and hot cocoa.

So, with endless delicious possibilities, I opted to walk away with three lattes: the Golden Graham Dirty Chai, the Gingerbread Toast Latte and the Pecan Pie Latte — all with oat milk, and all hot. To spoil the ending, the coffee was so impressive that it prompted a second visit, where I opted for the Pretzel-Mint Bark Latte, half-sweet and with oat milk.

There’s no outdoor seating in the cozy parking lot — there’s not a lot of space to park, for that matter — so be prepared to enjoy your drink in the car or at home. The first point in the shop’s favor, aside from the friendliness and free painted rocks, is the sturdiness of the cups. For anyone who has had flimsy coffee cup mishaps in the car, you know what I’m talking about.

The Golden Graham Dirty Chai offered a bit of a bite that often comes with a hint of ginger. If you look for that kick of spice when ordering your own, this may be the chai latte for you.

The Gingerbread Toast Crunch Latte from the seasonal holiday menu offered the (subjectively) perfect balance of moderate sweetness, allowing the rich espresso to still shine through. The combination of oat milk and gingerbread was perfectly warm and cozy, especially on cold days when temperatures hover around freezing.

Of course, I had to try the second item on the seasonal holiday menu: the Pretzel-Mint Bark Latte. It is exactly what it sounds like: pretzel, peppermint and white mocha. The sweetness was thankfully not too much and was enhanced by the dash of salt from the pretzel.

The drink that took the cake (or the pie?) was the Pecan Pie Latte. I was simultaneously the most skeptical about and most intrigued by this one. This might just be the cozy drink of the season. The pecan was subtle, and the drink offered a slightly more pronounced pie-crust flavor. The drink was creative, festive and not too frilly.

That’s a common theme that ran through the four lattes we tried: None of them were too sweet. As the young man serving my latte during my second visit said, they like to “keep it classy” with the sweetness level in their drinks. We can appreciate a classy, festive latte.

We at the Observer don’t use the term “hidden gem” loosely. In fact, we don’t like to use it at all. This little yellow coffee truck, however, truly is Denton’s hidden gem of coffee.
