Hurricane Grill & Wings, a tropical-themed wing joint that first hit Florida in 1995, is planning to open dozens of outlets around Dallas.
The restaurant chain, which currently operates 42 restaurants in six states, this week announced massive expansion plans. New development agreements call for the opening of 233 more restaurants in 15 states, including Texas.
“I haven’t really determined all the locations, but we’ll probably put in 25 to 30 restaurants in key locations in the metroplex,” says area director Bill Roberts.
Roberts doesn’t know when the first restaurant will open, but anticipates all the locations will be operational by 2018.

Roberts describes the Hurricane concept as “a very relaxing brand.”
“The way I like to talk about it is, it’s a fast casual dining restaurant,” Roberts says. “It’s a great getaway from a hectic day.”
When our sister paper in Broward County checked out Hurricane Grill back in 2007, the reviewer praised the restaurant’s Caribbean-inflected wing sauces, including “a citrus marinade that tastes of oranges and lemons flecked with basil and cilantro” and a habanero lime rub.
“I love the food!,” Roberts exclaimed in a release announcing the chain’s growth.
Roberts will be in Dallas on Tuesday, scouting locations.
