On Thursday, April 2, the Foundation Fighting Blindness will hold its second annual Dining In The Dark at the Fairmont Hotel (1717 N. Akard St.) in honor of donors Margot and Ross Perot.

The event begins with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by recognition of honorees (the Visionary Award). Guests might want to take it easy on the drinks, though, as they will soon be eating in total darkness. Blind servers dedicated to each table will guide diners through the new experience. After about an hour of darkness, event chairmen Ebby Halliday Acers and Congressmen Pete Sessions will speak about the experience…although you’ll have just experienced the very same thing, so just hope they keep it short.

The Foundation Fighting Blindness spurs research to find effective preventions and cures for a spectrum of diseases including retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration and Usher syndrome. Register online here. More information is available from Aaron Rager at 972-540-0190. Tickets and tables are a bit pricey, at $350 to $100,000, but it’s for a cause, dammit. If you can afford to help, it will be an unforgettable dining experience.
