“I’m hoping they voted the way they did because they want to come here.” (Eric Gigon, an owner of Track in Rowlett, on the city’s smoking ban, which goes into effect today. Voters supported the city council’s original ban by a two to one margin in a special election. Track is a new restaurant and owners spent $25,000 on a ventilation system. Gigon’s hope reflects an interesting question: will people keen to ban smoking from restaurants–and thus, presumably, affecting the restaurant’s income–now come out an dine at smoke-free places? Or will they just sit at home with their families? As quoted by the Dallas Morning News.)
