Dave & Buster’s celebrates the opening of their Arlington Highlands shopping center branch a week from today. That’s right, “celebrates” in the same sentence as “Arlington,” “shopping center” and “Dave & Buster’s.”

Well, why not? The Dallas-based chain has been in operation for 25 years now and this 33,000 square foot monstrosity of billiards and pinball, big screen TVs…oh, and food…puts them over the 50 locations mark. Must admit, they’ve found a niche and held onto it, which is more than you can say for some one-off concepts out there.

Of course, press materials billing this as the “fun capital of Arlington”—why bother with Rangers tickets, a seat at the new Cowboys stadium or even an afternoon at Six Flags?—and “great for date night” seem a tad far-fetched. Depending on your date’s age, I guess.

Anyway, the bright new Arlington Dave & Buster’s, with all its game day hangout possibilities, opens to the public Monday, November 24, at 11 a.m. –Dave Faries
