Just a few news items fitting for these recession-weary times…

State & Allen Lounge decided to postpone their holiday wine gathering, planned for December 9, at the behest of patrons. The credit pangs associated with other seasonal demands–i.e., shopping–apparently put a damper on their party spirit. The restaurant hopes to announce a replacement date sometime early in the new year. Let’s see, holiday-wise that means Groundhog Day, President’s Day or Martin Luther King’s birthday.

Windmill Lounge, that staunch advocate of classic cocktails, gets into the spirit of things by hosting an “ornament making party” on Thursday, December 4. That’s right, why waste precious cash on trinkets when you can do it yourself–and get liquored up in the process. Prizes awarded for best, worst, lewdest, and so on. The DIY action runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Here’s to the survivors: Dragonfly celebrates its sixth anniversary through December 6 with a six course tasting menu for only $66. Clever, no? Bring a date on Friday (Dec. 5) and earn a few bonus points as the restaurant hands out guess how many roses to female guests.
