Only a few places, most of them the remnants of chains, still serve real ice cream, scooped on a cone. David J’s is primarily a wholesaler–you’ve eaten their cappuccino pies and specialty ice creams in many of Dallas’ best restaurants–but they do keep a tiny shop open at their factory on Alpha Road, just west of the Tollway. Stop in and indulge.
