A lot of people have told me lately that I need to take notice of Dallas Affaires’ cakes, but it’s hard to notice some things until they’re shoved in front of your nose, which is exactly what happened a Super Bowl and birthday party. Two moist, velvety cakes from the East Dallas bakery–to be precise, a white-chocolate one extravagantly decorated with fresh flowers and creamy icing-swirls, and a double-chocolate delight, topped with deep curls of chocolate over its chocolate icing and glaze–were shoved under my nose. Both bore matching chocolate medallions inscribed with a birthday greeting. These jewel-box cakes make any occasion very special indeed.
