Pappalecco Cafe
Audio By Carbonatix
Pappalecco has been a staple Italian-inspired cafe in San Diego since 2007, and as it approaches its 20-year anniversary, the concept is finally expanding and coming to Texas. Plano, to be specific.
Nearly two decades ago, three brothers who immigrated from Italy to America brought the first Pappalecco location to Little Italy in San Diego, California. Their goal was to create the most genuine Italian haven outside of Italy, and since then, Pappalecco has become known for its artisanal approach to the Italian dolce vita.
The new Pappalecco in Plano is owned and operated by Jolly Chen and Chi Yan. They’re bringing the cafe to a new community, but the legacy that was established at Pappalecco’s flagship is coming with them.
Favorites from the original Pappalecco location like the marocchino (espresso with Nutella and frothy milk); caffè freddo (cold brew blended with gelato of your choice); and affogato, which is gelato drowned in a shot of espresso.
We’re thankful for you. Are you thankful for us?
We feel thankful for our staff and for the privilege of fulfilling our mission to be an unparalleled source of information and insight in Dallas. We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community.
Help us continue giving back to Dallas.
It will undoubtedly be coffee-focused, but Pappalecco will function more as a laid-back and inviting cafe with a modern and minimalist design.
The flagship menu expands to offer two different pastry cases, savory or sweet, plus paninos, salads and toasts. We’re sure we’ll get many of the same offerings, but we’re especially eager to try the gelato mimosa they serve. That’s an interesting pull for North Texas.
We’re a touch off from opening — the grand opening celebration will be on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 — but it’s worth marking your calendars. All menu items will be 50% off all weekend to celebrate the expansion.
Pappalecco will open at 1009 14th St. in Plano; Sunday – Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday/Saturday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
