The Londoner Pub is a longtime British-style tavern that is opening a new location in Arlington, right before the World Cup becomes the buzz in Dallas this summer.

Three Londoner locations are sprinkled across the metro area in Dallas proper (5321 E Mockingbird Lane), Colleyville (5120 State Highway 121) and Addison (14930 Midway Road).

The new location in Arlington will be the fourth, in the former Shakertin’s spot at 1409 N. Collins St., across the street from Lincoln Square.

Charlotte Tate, the daughter of The Londoner founder Barry Tate and also the chief operations officer, told the Fort Worth Report that she’d been eyeing the city’s Entertainment District for years, and that she hopes it’s an ideal time for them to take advantage of the influx of visitors.

The former Shakertins space will undergo a full renovation, including two outdoor patios and a double-sided fireplace.

At first, the team had explored opening The Londoner in Lincoln Square, but because they wanted the pub to open in time for the World Cup, it wasn’t possible.

In 2022, Fort Worth-based Trademark Property Co. bought the property. It recently received the green light from the Arlington City Council for a $150 million redevelopment that will rebrand Lincoln Square into something shiny and new called Anthem.

Three partial demolitions and renovations are scheduled to begin in July, according to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations from March.

Tate is hoping to soft-launch The Londoner in Arlington in late April, but the interior renovations must pass inspection first.

The Londoner Pub has been a staple all-around pub in Dallas for soccer games and World Cup watch parties for more than 30 years. The original location opened in Addison in 1998, and the British cuisine served there has been a hit ever since.

We can expect the same menu of favorites to make an appearance on the Arlington menu, like the Guinness cheesesteak, bangers and mash and Scotch eggs.

The party platters, daily happy hour and late-night menu will be a hit once the World Cup comes to Dallas in mid-June.
