Dallas-born Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe has been whipping up bold Cajun plates for more than 30 years across the Lone Star State and North Carolina.
It first opened in Addison in 1991 and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this October; not a bad run. On Monday, December 29, the M Crowd Restaurant Group, the parent company of Mi Cocina, Monkey Bar, Vaqueros Bar-B-Q and The Mercury, announced it had acquired the chain for $18.8 million, as reported by The Dallas Morning News.
Per a press release, M Crowd intends to invest in its roots and heritage dishes while strengthening Razzoo’s culinary Cajun identity. They plan to start by upgrading heritage dishes, such as the seafood combo platter and the seasonal crawfish boil. Also, the beverage program will get a refresh. Just please leave that Cajun chicken-fried steak alone (well, it was good 20 years ago anyway – not sure now).
“Razzoo’s has an incredible story, and our focus is to bring that story forward in a way that is authentic, relevant and true to the brand,” says Diana Isaacson, Vice President of Marketing at M Crowd Restaurant Group.”
