One of our favorite culinary discoveries in recent memory was Sheena Marie Scott’s The POT Baked Potato Bar, where Scott creates some of the best and most ambitious baked potatoes anywhere.
In June, Scott hit a road bump with POT Baked Potato Bar’s previous location at 1639 South Blvd.
“After an unexpected and abrupt removal from South Dallas Cloud Kitchen, owned by Cornerstone Baptist Church, we’ve made the difficult decision to relocate,” said Scott via Instagram. “While the way things unfolded lacked fairness and transparency, we’re not here to dwell. We’re here to evolve.”
On Wednesday, July 9, Scott will debut POT Baked Potato Bar’s new home, 1516 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., which is around the corner from the previous location. For the moment, Scott will be serving Dallas’ best baked potatoes (like the Sea Pot baked potato topped with salmon and jumbo shrimp in Cajun crawfish cream sauce) out of a trailer while the new brick-and-mortar location is constructed.
“We’re not just pulling up with a trailer and calling it a day. We’re building something permanent. A dine-in home. A space to gather, grub and get stuffed,” Scott says.
“We were blindsided. There was no consideration for our staff losing jobs, nor for our community losing food resources in an area that already lacks resources,” Scott said on Instagram. “Unfortunately, not everyone is happy to see businesses thrive. Until then, we’re working around the clock, because South Dallas deserves a space that they can truly call their own.”
We reached out to Cornerstone Baptist Church. Pastor Chris Simmons said that while they don’t comment on individual tenant matters, he confirmed the POT Baked Potato Bar’s departure followed a decision based on their internal policies and procedures.
“Our focus remains on maintaining a safe, respectful, and well-functioning environment for all tenants and staff at the South Dallas Cloud Kitchen,” Simmons wrote the Observer. “We wish POT Baked Potato Bar the best in their next chapter and appreciate their time with us.”

The Chop Pot comes topped with marinated lamb chops and The POT’s signature Cajun cream sauce.
