A few years back, when the economy was in better shape, people used to wring their hands about how retailers seemed to start the Christmas shopping season earlier and earlier every year. But have you ever noticed how, aside from the teetotalers and Avi Adelmans of the world, there are hardly any complaints whenever a bar gets a head start on a major drinking holiday? Seemed like St. Patrick’s Day started in late February this year at some pubs. Good news: Cinco De Mayo is following suit, at least in North Dallas.

Masaryk Modern Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Lounge (5004 Addison Circle) starts its Cinco de Mayo Celebration this evening as part of the Taste of Addison Taste Showcase Culinary Tour. Following the regular 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekday happy hour (as well as a 5 p.m. Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony today), the restaurant will have a Jimador and Herradura tequila tasting from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Those two brands will be featured in a 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tasting tomorrow as well.

Then, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, Tequila Ambasador Cristina Valenzuela will lead a Don Julio tequila class.

Tasting and class reservations are at 972-701-8500.
