$10,000

Last week, Richard and Tiffanee Ellman and John Paul Valverde, the folks behind Apheleia Restaurant Group (Pakpao, Oak), announced they were going for a threefer with El Bolero, a Mexican restaurant to be helmed by Hugo Galvan.

The announcement is the latest in a string of releases about planned restaurants in the Design District, a neighborhood that’s only gaining momentum. In fact, I’m hearing about Design District openings more than I am the ultimate proving ground for restaurant development, Trinity Groves.

Look at all these places.

El Bolero
Expect “regional and authentic” Mexican cooking near Oak Lawn Avenue and Irving Boulevard some time next spring.

Rodeo Goat
Shannon Wynne’s Fort Worth burger restaurant Rodeo Goat will be on Market Center Boulevard, just a block away from his well known Meddlesome Moth. Expect sky-high burgers that will require jaw surgery to get your mouth around.

Town Hearth
Nick Badovinous hasn’t said much lately about his new Design District restaurant, but that’s likely because he’s been busy opening his latest Neighborhood Services up in Addison. Expect two roaring grills and a ton of seared meats and fishes.

Primo’s
Yup. Tex-Mex

Noble Rey Brewery
Soon, the Design District will be swimming in booze. Peticolas and Community already brew enough beer to get half of Dallas completely knackered but Noble Rey Brewery will make this neighborhood a destination for beer fans.
