We’re starting to believe that all beverages consumed from Dec. 1 to Jan. 1 should include bubbles, be it a Topo Chico or a glass of the giggle water in its purest form. So, for this reason, around this time of year, we’re intrigued by new takes on classic sparkling cocktails, like the French 75. The Grape recently delighted us brunch with their Grape 72, named for the year The Grape originally opened.
Their thoughtful and simple slant on a French 75 – usually champagne, gin, lemon and a bit of sugar – subs the gin out and brings in an apple brandy to do the heavy lifting. Overall, the cocktail is a nice departure from the original and is best sipped alongside their famous burger.
