If you’re out and about in Fort Worth this weekend and need to get a beer fix, you should know that the Flying Saucer has landed in its new location. Back in June we told you the Fourth Street location would soon shutter as the new location at 111 East Third St. prepared to open. Yesterday the beer-centered bar and restaurant announced the move is complete. It’s time to get sauced.
The new spot is anchored by an 80-tap beer wall filled with the eclectic offering the Flying Saucer has become known for. If you prefer bottled beer that may be even better — the announcement claims more than 200 craft beers will be available for the swilling.
I visited the old location once before an opera at the nearby Bass Hall and the place was packed for an early weeknight. I didn’t get very far through their food menu but the sandwich and cheese board I enjoyed with a bottle of Mad Meg convinced me the kitchen turns out competent bar food. The new location adds hand-tossed pizza, house smoked salmon, and a half-pound Angus burger to their offerings.
Dallasites who are tempted to visit the Flying Saucer can traipse up to Addison if they don’t feel like a trip to Fort Worth to see the flagship location. Actually, there are 15 locations now in Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Missouri.
