Anybody can fry an egg.

Well, not necessarily anybody. But why not start your day with something that’ll really put a smile on your face, something your Mom might not approve of? You know–like a chocolate waffle dripping with Kahlúa crème or a burrito the size of a duffel bag.

What the hell are we talking about? We’re referring to a list of our favorite local outside-the-box breakfasts:

5 Alarm Breakfast Burrito: ($5.29) Taco Joint’s morning monster comes stuffed with refried beans, eggs, chorizo, cheese and 5-chile salsa.

$30,000

Hangtown Scramble: ($10.50) Bacon-wrapped fried oysters, Parmesan shavings and hollandaise sauce dress up plain ol’ eggs in this indulgent Hattie’s dish. Damn. Let’s say it together one more time: bacon-wrapped fried oysters.

Chocolate Waffle: ($13.50) Parigi’s dessert-for-brunch comes topped with Kahlúa crème. Maybe they’ll give you a little extra to stir into your mug.

Breakfast Panini: ($4.95) Pearl Cup’s press is no standard breakfast sammie. Choose from peanut butter or Nutella, then add bananas, jam or marshmallow fluff for a sweet retro treat.

Bluto Crepes: ($8.00) These BuzzBrews bad boys are filled with sausage, bacon, jalapeño, onion, tomato and cilantro. Then (as if that’s not enough), they’re topped with Poblano pepper and cheddar cheese. Lunch who?

Chipotle BBQ Beef “Bennie”: ($16.50) We threw this in just in case you thought Dragonfly at the ZaZa only served lettuce to models and hard liquor to rock stars. Turns out, they stuff regular folks silly too.

Chicken and Waffles: ($5.50 and up) Head to Big Mama’s Chicken and Waffles when you’ve got a hankerin’ for this so-wrong-it’s-right combination. And don’t be shy with the syrup.

Migas Enchiladas: ($7.25) Ozona wraps everyone’s fave Mexican breakfast dish in corn tortillas and tops ’em off with queso. Hangover, you’ve been served.
