While Kroger is opening a grocery store a few blocks away next month, the new Whole Foods Market won’t be ready for business until sometime in 2015.

Having two major grocery stores in such close proximity to downtown will almost certainly help anchor the neighborhood, which presently has a dearth of decent food shopping options within walking distance. With the recently opened Klyde Warren Park and all the apartments and condominiums that have sprouted up in recent years, you can almost picture people walking to and from this newest Whole Foods.

That’s good news. Especially if they put in a bar.
