There are some Dallas restaurants that are great then there are restaurants that make Dallas great. Tango Room is both. The experience starts when you walk into the restaurant, which sits quietly in the shadows of showy Carbone. Here a sleek red sign no more than 2 feet high whispers its presence. Inside, Andy Warhol's Diamond Dust Shoes hangs to the right of the hostess stands, as do many other art pieces in the restaurant. We hear they spend more on art insurance than rent. Tango Room originally opened in 2021 but recently got a refresh with a new executive chef and bar program. Small with just a dozen booths and mid-sized bar, it's sexy but quaint; exclusive but no jacket required.
Top Pick: The rich dark semi-circular booths here are made for deal-making. But if that's not in the cards, grab a seat at the bar during happy hour for half-priced drinks. And hope they have the fruit de mer pasta on special that night, a light butter and cream sauce with tender crab, lobster, oysters and joy.
