Arlington-based singer/songwriter Jessie Frye has been seeing all these lists of Dallas area bands who are playing this year's South by Southwest Festival and she wants folks to know she's heading south as well.
"I think I am the only artist that is invited who is from Arlington," says Frye. "I'm playing March 19 at midnight. The venue is the 18th floor at The Hilton Garden Inn, a very snazzy place."
Snazzy is the appropriate term, both for the venue and Frye's music. Incorporating her classical training into her modern pop compositions, Frye has found an interesting niche between Carole King and Tori Amos. Songs like "Birthmark (Chicago)" and "Fool's Gold" are intricately arranged and exceedingly well played examples of smart pop.

"I am very excited about jumping into the Dallas music scene," says Frye, with a pure enthusiasm that I hope she maintains throughout her career.
And she has the talent to make it. At least she's already making it to Austin in a couple of weeks...
