Grammy-nominated rapper Gucci Mane, whose legal name is Radric Delantic Davis, was reportedly robbed and kidnapped at a Dallas recording studio in January, according to the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) via WFAA.
The alleged attack was perpetrated and arranged by Memphis-based rapper Pooh Shiesty. The rapper and his father were arrested Thursday morning following an FBI raid at their family home in Memphis. In total, nine suspects, eight of whom have been arrested in Nashville, Memphis and Dallas in the last two days, are accused of holding Davis and others at gunpoint before robbing them of Rolexes, jewelry and cash. Memphis rapper Big30 was also arrested in association with the crime.
The DOJ complaint cited by WFAA says three music industry professionals traveled to Dallas for a meeting to “discuss the terms of his recording contract with one of the victims.” Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Denell Williams Jr., arranged the meeting, according to the complaint. Allegedly, Williams and eight co-conspirators ambushed the victims, brandished weapons and held the room hostage. Details of which recording studio and why the meeting was arranged in Dallas have not been released.
The complaint says Williams, with an AK-style pistol, “forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint.” Big30, whose real name is Rodney Lamont Wright Jr., is accused of barricading the door.
Williams is signed to Gucci Mane’s label, 1017, in collaboration with Atlantic Records. The two rappers frequently collaborated until Williams was indicted for an armed robbery committed in Florida in 2020. In 2022, he accepted a guilty plea on firearm conspiracy charges and was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison. He was released in October 2025, after serving three years. Davis has also served time in federal prison for firearms charges.
This is a developing story.
