This Monday, my Smile wait will finally end. Ever since I discovered the beauty of Pet Sounds, I’ve been obsessed with the lost album that was to follow, and my rough recreation of the original Smile LP, made up of bootleg tapes, never really sated my hopes for the real deal. This past February, I thought that a bootleg of Brian Wilson’s first Smile concert in London would finally do the trick, but the audience recording made me hungrier for a proper studio release. And now that my wish has been granted by Nonesuch Records, I’m somehow still not satisfied, and that’s because I know an even greater version is coming to Nokia Theater at Grand Prairie. Wilson’s full band will play the album in its entirety along with other old and new songs in what should be the biggest Smile you’ll ever see.
