Kind of a tough choice going tomorrow night here in the Dallas area, as two intriguing concert options go head to head.
On the one hand, you’ve got KDGE 102.1-FM The Edge’s Edgefest 21 show at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, featuring performances from Jane’s Addiction, Weezer, Social Distortion, Flogging Molly and plenty of others.
On the other hand, you’ve got Arcade Fire, still basking in their Grammy-winning glow, being joined by Austin’s Okkervil River at Gexa Energy Pavilion for the summer concert kickoff at The Venue Formerly Known as Starplex.
In theory, they’re two shows that should have little to do with one another. But, considering that the Edge’s bill is built essentially out of festival heavyweights and that Arcade Fire, themselves a festival favorite, are getting consistent airplay on the station these days, and suddenly it gets a little complicated.
In this week’s paper, to help make the decision easier, we break down what you can expect to find at each of these shows, and what you can find at both. See the breakdown — visually, and in Venn diagram form, no less — after the jump.
