While everyone waits to see who President Donald Trump will endorse for the Republican primary for GOP Sen. John Cornyn’s seat, on the other side of the aisle, an equally powerful political voice has finally broken their silence: Cardi B.
“Listen up, y’all, early primary voting is happening right now in Texas, and we need Jasmine Crockett to win,” Cardi B said in a story posted to her Instagram account. “… If you want somebody that’s going to fight for your rights, if you want somebody to fight for your community, if you want somebody that’s going to go up there and represent you and represent your issues, please vote for my sister, Jasmine Crockett.”
Crockett, a U.S. congresswoman, posted the endorsement on social media on Thursday.
Early voting ends Feb. 27. The primary election is March 3. Crockett faces an equally viral opponent, James Talarico, who has garnered nationwide attention with level-headed and Biblical approaches to politics.
The endorsement comes just ahead of Cardi’s tour run in Texas, which includes a stop at the American Airlines Center on March 7. Depending on how Tuesday’s election shakes out, we might just see Crockett on stage in her own pair of “Bodak Yellow” style bloody shoes.
The “WAP” singer’s stepping into politics isn’t new. She has remained politically active by advocating for racial equity and expanding health care, among other liberal causes. She endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, appearing at one of Harris’ large rallies in Milwaukee. The Grammy-winning performer also aligned herself with Sen. Bernie Sanders ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
Meanwhile, her archrival, Nicki Minaj, has recently made headlines by allying herself with Trump, abandoning her loyal following (of which many are LGBTQ+), the Barbz. Perhaps in retaliation, Minaj will symbolically throw a shoe back at Cardi B and endorse Ken Paxton.
