Yesterday saw the formal release of Midlake‘s two lead The Courage of Others singles in the form of a two-track, 12”, vinyl, limted edition, collector’s piece–a must have, we imagine, for any serious local music collector.

But, even for the wannabes, there’s something of a consolation: Yesterday, in tandem with the vinyl release, the band offered up both of the release’s tracks–“Acts of Man” and “Rulers, Ruling All Things”–as a free download via Pitchfork. Get ’em here.

Oh, and while there, check Midlake’s upcoming tour schedule. Initially, its two-and-a-half-month trek took the band through the U.S. and Europe–but, somewhat surprisingly, nowhere near North Texas. Well, that’s been rightfully rectified: Now the band will wrap up its tour with a welcome home performance in Denton scheduled for Saturday, March 13, as part of the NX35 festival’s second go-’round.
