Kacey Musgraves Uses Fake Name to Sing Karaoke in Dallas

A few lucky barflies caught a Christmas miracle of their own earlier this week when Kacey Musgraves crashed their karaoke night.

Seven-time Grammy-winning country singer Kacey Musgraves popped into Dallas LGBTQ+ favorite Round-Up Saloon last Monday for an impromptu performance.

The Texas star signed up to sing under the name “Bianca Valentine,” but her disguise was short-lived because everyone recognized the young country singer as soon as she hit the stage.

Musgraves covered Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” “Believe” by Cher and Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” for a relatively sparse crowd.

While her fans are probably kicking themselves for missing a free, intimate performance from Musgraves, anyone who’d just happened to drag themselves out of the house that night was surely glad that they did.

“It’s always the nights you don’t wanna go out something like this happens hahah,” a TikTok user commented.

It’s not every day that such a decorated artist comes out to carol alongside us common folk, though Round-Up would be the place to find a star this big: Willie Nelson, Lady Gaga, Charli XCX and Robyn have all visited and/or performed at the best gay bar in Dallas. For some reason, most of the comments on Instagram were more focused on the quality of her karaoke performance rather than how extraordinary the moment was.

“Proof that no one sounds good at karaoke,” one user commented.

“This should show you how underwhelming karaoke set-ups make you sound at bars,” another user said. “Sure, it’s fun, but your big break as a singer isn’t going to come from a karaoke performance. Musgraves is an amazing singer and has done this song live many times, and it’s far from its best sound.”

Whether the EQs were balanced or not, it’s safe to say everyone there had an unforgettable night. What was Musgraves doing in the area? Well, her hometown of Golden (population under 500) is only about 90 minutes away from the Oak Lawn bar, so she was probably just sneaking away for some drinks and a good time like anyone else.

The holiday fun wasn’t quite over for Musgraves, who recently shared her trip to her grandparents’ house on Instagram with the caption, “Surprising your grandparents with games, snacks, and whiskey hehe.”

Musgraves busted out Mineola-Opoly for some family fun and posted herself the next day on the way to a workout with her grandpa.

Musgraves’ Deeper Well World Tour passed through Dallas last month, so it may be a while before the singer is seen again in our neck of the woods. Until the next tour is announced, perhaps her fans' best bet is to just camp out at a favorite karaoke spot and hope for the best.
