A bunch of luminaries, local and otherwise, celebrated the 32nd birthday of R.C. Williams at the downtown ultralounge Plush last night, including Erykah Badu, Devin the Dude and area rapper/goofball Pikahsso, who shot the above clip of Badu singing “Happy Birthday” to the man she employs as her touring keyboardist.
In addition to backing Badu’s live performance, though, Williams also runs the weekly jam session held on Wednesday nights at the Prophet Bar. That bit’s also currently penciled in as the subject of this week’s column space in the print edition, and for good reason: It just might be the coolest weekly happening in town that you don’t know about. So, y’know, keep an eye out for that.
