UPDATE, 7/28/25: The Bag Lady has seen her shadow, and it means that our Badu summer will be extended through the fall.
Just weeks after announcing the 10-date tour with The Alchemist, Badu dropped new tour dates, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Mama’s Gun. And yes, Dallas is included on the tour.
Kicking off with two October dates in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, the anniversary tour will pick back up in November with 14 additional dates, including two-night stands in Atlanta, Houston, Chicago and New York City, before closing at the Toyota Music Factory in Irving on Dec. 10.
One of her dates will have Westside Gunn open for her.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster. Fans can get early access through a Live Nation pre-sale for select dates (use code LIGHTS) beginning on Wednesday, July 30, at 10 a.m. local time.
The two coinciding tours make it as exciting a time as it gets to be a Badu fan. She’s rumored to be debuting a set of new music during her tour with the Alchemist, and a Mama’s Gun anniversary tour might mean she’ll uncork some rarely played deep cuts. Either way, we’ll see you there.

See original story below.
It all seemed too good to be true. The first new Erykah Badu album in 15 years? And it's produced by The Alchemist? Oh, and it's coming out this summer on Badu's label? Yeah, right.
We were a little skeptical, or maybe we just didn't want to get our hopes up too much. But at long last, it appears that the long-rumored Badu x The Alchemist collaboration album, Abi & Alan, is really set to grace our ears this summer, accompanied by a short 10-date North American run where music from the album will be debuted live. The tour kicks off on Aug. 8 in Seattle and wraps up on Aug. 24 in Austin at ACL Live. No Dallas dates are included on the tour, but we will gladly drive down to Austin to see Badu again.
The tour also includes three sold-out dates in Japan this month, where Badu's live band, The Cannabinoids, will bring the new songs to life in a maximalist psychedelic hip-hop fashion that we've grown to expect. Five of the eight producers will be on tour: Dallas legend RC Williams, Jah Born, S1, A1 and Rob Free. It'll feature eight laptops, six keyboards, four drum machines, three turntables and a Theremin. We have no idea how all of it will be used, but we can't wait to see.
There's still no official release date for the record, but the first song, "Next To You," was released after Badu's live-streamed Juneteenth show last week. It matches Badu's sultry vocals with an analog, boom-bap hip-hop sound from The Alchemist. Too early to call it song of the summer?
Either way, we hope to be able to hear that song live in our own city this summer. Austin's great, and we know we're spoiled with Badu content in Dallas, but c'mon, Abi & Alan deserve to be played here too.
If you plan to drive down to Austin or for any other city's shows, tickets go on sale Friday, June 27, at 10 a.m. local time.
In the meantime, get excited for the tour with some more photos of Badu's Juneteenth show taken by our contributor, Vera "Velma" Hernandez.
