Fairmount Owners Moving On To New Venue

The change to BYOB wasn't enough to save Fort Worth's Fairmount, sadly, and the South Side's biggest music venue had to shut its doors after Sunday's pre-Cinco De Mayo celebration with Star De Azlan.

But while the venue may be gone, co-owners Sally Birthisel and J.R. Whitfield will still be involved in local music. According to an e-mail sent by Birthisel last night, the two have been invited to run booking and sound for a new, as-yet-unopened venue with a capacity of 600 and new stage, sound and lighting. The news is as vague as it is exciting: no word on the venue's location or when it will be open. I've left messages for Birthisel to find out more.
