Gig Alert and Bonus MP3: Miniature Tigers - "Gold Skull"

Brookland-based indie rock act Miniature Tigers has been around since 2006--and from the beginning the band has received critical kudos. With its dreamy, synth-heavy indie pop, the band's success hasn't come unexpectedly; frontman/guitarist Charlie Brand has a true gift with melody and a nice lyrical touch as well.

Miniature Tigers' second full-length effort, Fortress, came out a week ago and the band was kind enough to offer up one of the new album's best cuts, "Gold Skull," for the listening enjoyment of DC9 readers. Stream or download the song after the jump.

And if that's not enough, you can catch Miniature Tigers tonight at The Loft on a nice bill that includes The Spinto Band, a catchy little sextet out of Maryland.

Dreamy, indeed.

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
