Singer/songwriter Andrew Belle resides in both Chicago and Nashville and he incorporates themes from both cities into his brainy pop rock. Belle's debut full length, The Ladder, was released in February and has drawn comparisons to Coldplay, The Fray and John Mayer.
Certainly on the conservative side on the indie-rock spectrum, Belle's songs are nonetheless sparkling examples of what pop can be when it's not subjugated to flash over substance (see Lady Gaga).
Plus Belle was cool enough to send over a free MP3 of a song from The Ladder. The tune is called "Static Waves" and it features Katie Herzig.
But there's more.
Rachel Taylor and Trevor Kelly are the nucleus of He is We. Together, these two Tacoma, Washington, songsmiths are touring with Belle and they too have graciously offered an MP3 for DC-9 readers. The song is an acoustic demo called "Blame it on the Rain" (and no, it's not a Milli Vanilli cover).
You can check out both songs after the jump.

Not a bad combination, I say. Belle's quite a bit more polished, but He and We have that folksy earnestness that both indie and emo types seem to appreciate.
