Although Denton's own White Drugs is having a CD release party tonight for the band's great new effort Gold Magic, having Ohio's Puffy Areolas on the bill makes it worth your while to get to the venue relatively early. Started in 2005 in by Teets, the band's lead guitarist, it wasn't until 2009 that the band got around to recording its first official release, the fan club-only single "Lutzko Lives." These days, though, Teets and crew are currently on a month-long tour in support of In the Army 1981, Puffy Areolas' debut full-length, released earlier this year.
Describing their ound as "corroded psych/hardcore scree," this oddball collection of Midwesterners embodies everyone from the Stooges to legendary noisemakers Throbbing Gristle. In other words? Their stuff isn't for the faint of heart.
