When Dallas singer-songwriter Kristy Kruger's older brother died in Iraq in 2006, her response was to hold a benefit concert for her brother's family. (Darryl
Smyers wrote about her experience in "The War At Home." ) Tonight, on what would have been the 43rd birthday of Dallas soldier Lt. Col. Eric Kruger, she will once again use her music to honor his memory, performing and acting as host for a fund-raiser at the South Side on Lamar Opening Bell Coffee.
This time, proceeds from the show (which is free with a recommended donation of $10) will benefit The Fisher House, a non-profit organization that helps the families of injured military personnel.
Also on the bill are Sean Foster and Dylan Sneed. Sneed will also join Kruger as part of her trio, along with drummer Richard Hewett. --Jesse Hughey
