So, it seems that Thursday night's Cold War Kids gig at Lola's in Fort Worth has been sold out for three weeks now.
Why?
Well, Darryl Smyers' interview with Cold War Kids bassist Matt Maust, which you can read in tomorrow/Thursday's print edition, tries to answer that question.
The answer (basically): The band culls its influences from such a wide swath that it's almost difficult not to like something about them. (You should still read the story, by the way. There's more to it than that, obviously.)
Anyway, yeah, Cold War Kids are quite popular with the kids, so the sell-out maybe doesn't come as such a surprise. This might, though: We've got a pair of tickets to give away to the show. And, get this, we're told that these tickets are the last ones left. This is your only way in.
So, then, it's with some trepidation that I announce that (just like every contest we run) the first person to email me with the name of the band's current single, "Something Is Not Right With Me," in the subject line gets the pass. Here's hoping a fan is reading.
And, yeah, the contest starts right this very moment. Good luck.
Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winner. --Pete Freedman
