Independent Journalism in Dallas Needs You
We need to raise $12,500 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
As if a convention center full of instruments and gear weren’t exciting enough, this weekend’s Texas Guitar Show at the Arlington Convention Center also includes a chance to be part of a world record: At 2 p.m. sharp on Saturday, attendees and exhibitors alike will put their Buckethead-vs.-Zakk-Wylde arguments to rest and join together in an attempt to break the world record for the most guitarists playing the same song simultaneously with a massive version of–what else?–“Louie Louie.”
Entrance to the show, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, is $15 for everyone 12 and older, and free for anyone 11 and under (with an adult). However, Texas Guitar Shows Inc. has offered up free admission to three lucky DC9 readers, each of whom may bring a guest. All you’ve got to do is be one of the first three to e-mail me with the subject “We gotta go” and you and a guest will be on the list to get in free.
Update: Contest is over. Congratulations to the winners.
