Last year, Red Bull brought its first SoundClash event to town, with Erykah Badu squaring off against Shiny Toy Guns in Victory Plaza. It made for a pretty cool event, with the two acts playing on stages set up across from each other and playing covers, then the other artist's songs, and anything else that the in-house DJ at the event may have asked of them.
It leads to some interesting moments and experiences that can't be replicated with other events, that's for sure--like, say, Badu playing a country song, as she did at last year's event.
Tonight, Red Bull is bringing the SoundClash back to Dallas, this time at the Palladium Ballroom, where it will pit rapper Talib Kweli and Latin funk legends Ozomatli against one another in its competitive setting.
