The Sword is rapier-like. (Jack Thompson)

Back when we previewed Ozzfest for August 6 issue, I wrote the following about Austin’s The Sword:

J.D. Cronise’s lead vocals give the band’s brutal, impressive songwriting (which incorporates a hint of classic rock) a medieval, fantastic quality. Oh, and the band’s 2008 release, Gods of the Earth, is amazing.

Still stands true today, so no need to revise that statement in this post, as it only exists to let you know that we’ve got two pairs of tickets to the band’s show (thanks, Spune!) with Los Angeles’ Year Long Disaster at Lola’s tonight. First two people to email me with “Fire Lances Of The Ancient Hyperzephyrians” in the subject line each walk with a pair of tix. Have at it, metalheads–these guys are as good as it gets these days. Seriously, the song “Fire Lances Of The Ancient Hyperzephyrians” just kills.

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners. —Pete Freedman
