Denton's Midlake is preparing for the early November release of its fourth album, Antipthon. The album will be the band's first without former singer Tim Smith, and, in their new bio, vocalist and guitarist Eric Pulido describes what fans can expect from the new stuff.
It's always through the scope of Midlake, but on Antiphon we wanted to embrace the psychedelia, style and nuance you might hear in bands from yesteryear while also being aware of music influences leading up to and present now. The result was less folk and more rock. Less nostalgic and more progressive. Now the sky's the limit.
A couple days ago, the band posted the title track, so you can hear the pschedelia for yourself.
