KXT 91.7 and Whataburger Announce Homegrown Bites Vol. II

One of the Dallas arts scene’s coolest projects is back. KXT 91.7 is collaborating with Whataburger yet again to present Homegrown Bites Vol. II, a free vinyl record pressed with 12 songs from local Dallas musicians. 

One year ago, the collaboration debuted with a 12-track lineup that featured artists like Angel White, The Rosemont Kings, Phantomelo, Damoyee and Cure For Paranoia. All records were given away for free at special KXT events held at local Whataburger locations.

This time around, 12 new songs and artists will be immortalized in the Homegrown Bites series, with Cure For Paranoia set to be the first and only returning artist to be on both volumes, with their feature on Silver Skylarks’ “The Math,” alongside Uncle Roy & Spice.

Similar to last year’s album, we’re impressed with the variety of genres and local prestige. There’s a country presence, particularly in the songs by Midlake and Vandoliers. But songs like “Daydreaming” by Dana Harper remind us of a prime Jill Scott, and Ceci Ceci’s “Malos Modales” plays like a Spanish anthem for years to come. 

You’d be hard pressed to find another LP with this varied a selection, but Homegrown Bites being local and free makes it all the more special.

To secure a record for yourself, KXT hosts will be popping up at North Texas Whataburger locations every Wednesday in October from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Here are the locations and dates.
