Dads of the Metroplex tired of receiving yet another pair of slippers that they won’t wear (or just another crappy card) for Father’s Day: This weekend at Delaney Vineyards in Grapevine, there's an event suited for the adventurous Indiana Jones persona lurking in almost every proud papa.

"A Texas Style Salute to Texas Forefathers and Fathers" features several interesting musical performances and guest speakers along with the requisite food and booze. Keller’s own country songstress Rebecca Henricks, songwriter/historian K.R. Wood and T. Gozney Thornton are just a couple of the musical acts scheduled to perform.

Add in some great wine and a little barbecue (along with a lecture by 4-time space shuttle astronaut Tom Henricks) and you have a testosterone-fueled father fest of the highest order. The revelry take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visit the festival’s website for more information. --Darryl Smyers

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
