In a joint press release by Álvarez and his band, along with show promoter CMN and management company Copar Music, said the concert on Saturday, May 24 was postponed "due to unforeseen circumstances." Álvarez was "unable to enter the United States in time for the event."
Known as El Rey de la Taquilla (King of the Box Office) and described as the icon of regional Mexican music, his 4218 Tour was record-breaking, selling out three consecutive nights at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. With nearly 50,000 tickets sold for his last show in the U.S. this year at AT&T Stadium, he was set for another historic moment.
Álvarez also announced the news on his Instagram account, saying in the video that he and his team were notified of the cancellation of his work visa, which was revoked by U.S. authorities on Friday, May 23.
"We have no way of entering the United States and fulfilling our commitment to all of you. This situation is out of our hands—this is the information I have and what I can share with all of you," he said in the video.
Álvarez added that the stage was built in AT&T Stadium, and his production team was already in Texas preparing for Saturday's show.
"However, the musicians and I are unable to be there to honor our commitment due to what I mentioned—the visa cancellations. That’s the only information I have and can share with you," he said. "God willing, we’ll be in touch to provide more updates."
CMN and Copar Music are working along with Álvarez's team to reschedule the performance. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. If you're unable to attend the rescheduled concert, refund details will be available through email communication in the coming days.
Álvarez shared in a statement that he expresses his heartfelt thanks for his fans' patience and continued support and looks forward to reuniting with his Texas fans soon.
With close to 17 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Álvarez, a Latin Grammy winner who won Best Banda Album for De Hoy En Adelante, Que Te Vaya Bien, is known for hits like "Rey Sin Reina" and "Póngamonos de Acuerdo."
