This weekend, North Texas will be forced to observe its annual major winter storm, not-so-affectionately known to locals as “icepocalypse” or “Dallaska.”

While you’re stocking up groceries, dripping your faucets, and trying to maintain a calm demeanor so that northern out-of-towners don’t make fun of us again, take some time to consider your emotional and cultural well-being over the next few days.

Even if we make it through the power outages, electrical grid anxiety and plumbing issues unscathed, we’re still susceptible to losing our grip on reality while holed up at home.

The way we see it, if you can’t beat the January blues (and you can’t go to an actual concert), you may as well join them with the help of some moody music.

Editor's Picks

We’ve compiled what we consider to be a perfect “winter vibes” playlist featuring new releases, old favorites from North Texas artists, songs that are about winter and music that generally aligns with the seasonal melancholy we’re about to be subjected to.

Stay warm, Dallas.
