Up to this point, we really haven't heard too much from 16-year-old Dallas rapper Lil Twist.
We knew a few things, of course: Namely, that he's a member of Lil Wayne's Young Money crew and stopped by to join the man on stage at Wayne's American Airlines Center performance back in December '08. (Has it really been that long since Tha Carter III? Guess so.) And we knew he'd released a mixtape or two.
But, really, for all intents and purposes, Twist, alongside many of his cohorts in the Young Money family, is getting his real debut on the collective's December 21-released compilation album, We Are Young Money. That disc's doing OK, chart-wise, too, currently sitting at Nos. 12, 4, 14, and 1, respectively, on Billboard's Billboard 200, R&B Hip-Hop Albums, Digital Albums and Rap Albums charts respectively. And lead single "Bedrock," aside from currently being unavoidable on area hip-hop radio stations, sits at No. 5 on the R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart, No. 1 on the Ringtones chart and No. 12 on the Hot 100 chart.
So, yeah, there's some interest in the album, on which Twist makes two appearances: Once in the final song on the album, "Finale," which features the entire Young Money roster, and in a more featured role on the song "Girl I Got You," in which he shares the spotlight with fellow teenage prodigy Lil Chuckee of Atlanta.
After the jump, check out a stream of his featured track.
It's not all that bad of a listen--especially if you ever found yourself a fan of those Bow Wow-Omarion collaborations from a few years ago.
