NX35's 2010 Keynote Speaker: Steve Albini

Just last week, Daniel Rodrigue caught up with NX35 festival organizer Chris Flemmons to see how things were going as preparations for year two of the pre-SXSW fest began.

Today, some news to report on that front: On its festival blog, NX35 has just announced the keynote speaker for its 2010 go-'round: producer, sound engineer, Shellac member, Record Hop fan and highly opinionated music observer Steve Albini.

No date has been set on when his speech will take place, but, either way, it's an exciting first announcement for the fest.

Last year's speaker, you may recall, was comic author and jazz fan Harvey Pekar.

Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
