Pencil For Your Thoughts

Good luck finding anything typical in Fishboy's world. According to Little D, the sophomore album from his Denton lo-fi pop quartet, his world is made up of Christmas trees that come back to life, Game Boys that get lost at the beach and nonstop high-fives with his Chinese friends. Even better, his Web site and promotional fliers are smothered in zany comics that put Napoleon Dynamite to shame.

Thus, it came as no surprise that Fishboy, the alias of lead singer Eric Michener, wanted nothing typical when interviewed about the full-length he spent nearly two years perfecting. Little D is the biggest, best effort by the band yet, packed with notable Denton musicians and a surprisingly non-annoying amount of glee, and its proper review is forthcoming. Until then, jump into toon-Fishboy's sweet Impala and cruise through our co-authored comic-strip interview.
