The New Year’s Eve balloons loomed high above a sold-out crowd at the House of Blues Tuesday night, where the Old 97’s played their part of a big alt-country night around Dallas.
It was a little early for a New Year’s Eve party, but front-man Rhett Miller said he understood why everyone came out for the night of the 30th. “I know tomorrow night, you’ll all stay home and fuck,” he said. “Because that’s what grown-ups do.”
Locals The O’s and The Drams opened the show.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?
At the Dallas Observer, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of the Dallas Observer, now’s the time to give back.
