We noted yesterday that Rhett Miller’s in town to record a new solo album. Last night he played what was supposed to be a double-bill with Sarah Jaffe, to try out some of his new material in an acoustic show at Sons of Hermann Hall.
Jaffe didn’t make it (we had a little weather, as you might have heard) — so Miller played solo, trying out some cuts off his new album, and closing with older solo work and a few from the Old 97’s’ softer side.
Earlier in the evening, he hosted a kids’ songwriting workshop too, a fundraiser for the Way Into Music fund.
DC-9 was there for both, and we’ve got photos up in our slideshow here.
Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?
At the Dallas Observer, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of the Dallas Observer, now’s the time to give back.
