As one of the original producers of American dubstep, PJ Geissinger has responded to the genre’s transition from the U.K. underground to packed arenas by searching for a happy medium. While running his Seclusiasis and Slit Jockey label, Starkey landed on the U.K. electronic imprint Planet Mu for his first album, 2008’s Ephemeral Exhibits, followed by Ear Drums and Black Holes in 2010. His third full-length album is on the way later this year, and outer space factors abundantly into his more recent work: Lost in Space features the vocals of rising British pentagram-pop diva Charli XCX.
